Vanderlande Industries
Vanderlande Industries started in early 2003 to realize an enterprise-wide PLM strategy, based on ENOVIA SmarTeam. This PLM configuration supports the business processes of all departments, including the global ‘Customer Centers’. The number of users exceeds 1500.
The implementation provides extensive support in the following areas: management of office documents, 2D (AutoCAD) drawings, 3D CAD (SolidWorks) parts and assemblies, document exchange (‘transmittals’), status and workflow management, extensive print and plot facilities, management of inter-related documents, standardization of product structures, administration of “As Engineered”, “As Produced” and “As Serviced” product trees, linking with Oracle JD Edwards, link to a personnel management system, Internet access, etc.
Rijkswaterstaat
On June 6, 2006 the Department of Public Works has selected SmarTeam/FS through a European tender for supporting Systems Engineering.
RWS is increasingly going to work based on ‘the market, unless …’ principle. The engineering firms and contractors are asked to take more substantive responsibility for the Dutch infrastructure projects, but within the limits of the foundation dictated by RWS that is structured according to the methodology of ‘Functional Specification’ (see ‘Systems engineering). The specification process must be supported by specialized software.
After an intensive European selection process, the SmarTeam/FS software from infostrait was selected from seven entries in the tender as being the most economically advantageous.Besides ProRail, where the use of systems engineering is known as “Explicit way of working”, RWS will now also benefit from SmarTeam software solutions provided by infostrait.

Philips’ engineering data from different branches in several countries are joined in their environment through SmarTeam Multi-Site. This allows everyone at each site to work with PLM data regardless of which site they are working from.
For parties outside the engineering department, like the marketing department and subcontractors, there is a straitPortal implementation. straitPortal is infostrait’s web solution through which Philips makes her BOMs, product documentation and CAD drawings easily available, without having to provide everyone with a SmarTeam installation.
Middels een Excel import kan Philips spreadsheets van leveranciers gebruiken om data te importeren naar SmarTeam. Through an Excel Import utility, Philips can use spreadsheets of suppliers to import data into SmarTeam. The supplied spreadsheets contain component information that Philips itself manages, and by means of this import functionality information from the sheets are perfectly matched with the data that is managed by the SmarTeam implementation.
straitBatch is being used to, from within SmarTeam, print and plot documents – both centrally and on remote locations. straitBatch is a modular software package for performing batch processing (plotting, convert, email, etc.) on a central server controlled from SmarTeam clients. The SmarTeam-managed information and files can be job-wise manipulated.
Paques Natural Solutions
At Paques, ENOVIA SmarTeam is used to manage enterprise-wide technical and commercial product information, as well as to manage technological knowledge. It uses advanced drawing management (AutoCAD) of standard products and customer-specific adaptations, and the management of Office documents with technical specifications. Also included is functionality for automatically generating and sending publications in PDF format. Paques is based in Balk and has got a second production facility in Shanghai (China).
