Voordat u kunt overstappen, krijgt u echter te maken met de noodzakelijke conversie van uw bestaande SolidWorks bestanden, waarschijnlijk duizenden. Een handmatige conversie is eigenlijk geen optie vanwege het verlies van effectieve werktijd. Upgraden naar SmarTeam V5R18 De huidige versie van SmarTeam, V5R18, biedt verschillende interessante opties. Misschien het meest opvallend is de geheel vernieuwde en verbeterde User Interface. Dit biedt SmarTeam gebruikers nu een Windows Vista-achtige ervaring, en resulteert in een lagere leercurve. Functioneel, V5R18 omvat verscheidene krachtige toebehoren zoals groepering van zoekopdrachten, filteren in boomstructuren en geavanceerde en flexibele statusbeheer. Uiteraard ondersteunt V5R18 de nieuwste CAD-software. infostrait heeft al bij verschillende klanten (bijvoorbeeld apt Kurvers) een upgrade naar V5R18 uitgevoerd. Europees Systems Engineering Symposium infostrait zal prominent aanwezig zijn op het door INCOSE georganiseerde Europese symposium "Systems Engineering for the Planet" van 15 tot 19 juni 2008 in de Jaarbeurs te Utrecht. Op verzoek van SmarTeam/FS-gebruikers is onlangs ondersteuning toegevoegd voor risicobeheer volgens de RISMAN-methode, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) en procedures voor verificatie van Objecten en Eisen. Deze nieuwe functionaliteit zal beschikbaar zijn voor de demonstratie op de Europese INCOSE Conferentie 2008. In de Grond-, Weg- en Waterbouw heeft men zich gerealiseerd dat post en e-mail niet de juiste hulpmiddelen zijn voor het afhandelen van projectcommunicatie. De huidige tijd vraagt om digitale afhandeling van omvangrijke en/of belangrijke contractstukken, zoals tekeningen en facturen. Afhandeling volgens een vooraf gedefinieerde procedure waar niet van afgeweken kan worden. En met projectmanagement ondersteuning, zoals rapportages van overschreden reactietermijnen, of te beoordelen wijzigingen. In de GWW-sector volstaat het niet langer om apart beleid te voeren t.a.v. Aberdeen Group adviseert sales/product configuratoren Aberdeen Group analyseerde het effect van configuratoren in de industrie. Men concludeert dat bedrijven die gebruikmaken van een sales configurator 30 tot 80% hogere winstmarges hebben. De best presterende bedrijven bieden 3,5 keer zo veel aanpasbare opties, en reageren 3 keer zo snel met een prijsopgave. Voor assemble-to-order bedrijven hebben de best presterende bedrijven een 76% hogere gebruik van de sales configuratoren dan gemiddeld. Onder engineer-to-order organsiaties, zien de best presterende bedrijven 4,4 keer meer kans om gebruik te maken van ontwerpautomatisering, ten opzichte van het gemiddelde.
